A Chennai band goes to Olympics
Staccato, a Chennai based music band will perform at the prestigious opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. The band will perform on July 30th and Aug 2nd in the cultural exchange event at the Olympics Park, London.
The band was selected from over 10,000 entries from Asia. This band, which is famous for their contemporary classical numbers, also tries various other genres including jazz, blues, Arabic music, and of course, Carnatic music.
It all happened when the youngest member of the band Kaashif Rafiq, sent one of their original tracks to the Olympic committee. Apart from Staccato, 100 other bands from all over the world will play during the grand event.
