'Thillu Mullu' to be remade

Kavithalaya, the famed production house backed by ace filmmaker K Balachander, is planning to remake two evergreen movies of the director- 'Thillu Mullu' and 'Manmadha Leelai'.

While 'Thillu Mullu' had Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role, 'Manmadha Leelai' had 'Ulaga Nayagan' Kamal Haasan as the protagonist. Both were blockbusters when they hit the screens.

According to Balachander's daughter Pushpa Kandasamy, "We are in talks with some of the top directors to remake these films. The basic theme will be retained, but the scripts will be reworked to the present trend."

She adds: "Both Thillu Mullu and Manmadha Leelai are trend setters. Their themes are evergreen and fit to be made as fresh films. Hence we are working on them at present."
